A maincrop variety bred in Northern Ireland and introduced in 1987.
Tubers are large, oval in shape with shallow eyes and pale cream or white skin.
The cream coloured flesh has a floury texture and excellent flavour.
Very versatile and particularly suited to chipping but is equally good for mashing, roasting or boiling.
Navan is a reliable and heavy cropper and in tests has shown good drought tolerance and strong resistance to splitting.
Has become a household favourite in Ireland.
