Planting & Care Guide
To achieve the best results with ‘Golden Harvest’, follow these primary planting and maintenance guidelines:
- When to Plant: Sow bulbs in Autumn (September to November) before the first hard ground freeze.
- Sunlight: Thrives in Full Sun to Partial Shade.
- Soil Requirements: Prefers fertile, moist, but well-drained soil. It will tolerate sandy, chalky, or clay conditions, but working sand into heavy soil can drastically improve necessary drainage.
- Planting Depth & Spacing:
- Plant the bulbs with the pointed end facing upwards.
- Set them at a depth of 10 to 15 cm (4 to 6 inches), roughly three times the height of the bulb itself.
- Space bulbs roughly 10 to 15 cm apart.
- Post-Bloom Care:
- Deadhead the faded flower heads to stop energy going into seed production.
- Do not remove the green foliage early. Let the leaves yellow and die back naturally for at least 6 weeks after flowering to store energy back into the bulb for next year’s crop.
