  • Can be planted any time of year
  • Best time to plant: January to April

Where to Grow Strawberries

  • Strawberry plants require full sun
  • The soil should be well drained
  • Strawberry plants need good fertile soil
  • Add farm yard manure before planting
  • You can grow in a planter or grow bag
  • Ensure soil is weed free at all times

Caring for Strawberry Plants

  • Watering is very important especially if you're growing in hanging baskets
  • Soil should be moist but not soaking
  • Feed regularly
  • A tomato feed is suitable or some type of potassium based fertiliser
  • Mulch plants with hay or clean straw
  • Cover crops early with anti bird netting
  • Remove runners as they develop to focus energy on main plant
  • As Winter nears, cover plants with a layer of mulch to protect over Winter
  • Remove mulch away from plants in Spring
