Growing and Care Guide
- Sunlight: Requires full sun to thrive.
- Soil: Prefers moderately fertile, moist but well-drained soil. It cannot tolerate sitting in waterlogged ground over winter.
- Hardiness: It is a short-lived, borderline-hardy perennial. In colder regions, it requires winter protection or a deep layer of dry mulch around the base.
- Pruning: Do not cut the plant back in autumn, as this leaves it vulnerable to frost damage. Leave the old stems until early spring, then cut them down to ground level once new green shoots appear at the base.
- Propagation: It will self-seed naturally in light soils, providing fresh plants for the following year.
