Optimal Growing Conditions
  • Light: Prefers partial shade or dappled sunlight. It tolerates full sun but the leaves may scorch or turn a pale yellowish-green under intense midday exposure.
  • Soil: Thrives in fertile, moisture-retentive, yet well-drained soils.
  • Watering: Requires consistent moisture. The soil should not be allowed to dry out completely, though waterlogged roots must be avoided.
  • Hardiness: Exceptionally cold-hardy, surviving freezing temperatures down to -20°C to -30°C
Common Landscape Uses
  • Natural Privacy Screens: Planted together to build low, dense hedges and effective acoustic barriers.
  • Container Planting: Adapts perfectly to large patio pots, balconies, and courtyards due to its restricted root system.
  • Aesthetic Anchors: Positioned safely near garden ponds, pathways, or alongside woodland companion plants like hostas or Japanese maples
