Acer freemanii Jeffersred

Acer × freemanii ‘Jeffersred’, widely sold under the commercial trade name Autumn Blaze, is a highly popular, fast growing hybrid maple tree. It is a cross between the Red Maple (Acer rubrum) and the Silver Maple (Acer saccharinum), successfully combining the brilliant autumn color and strong structural branching of the red maple with the rapid growth rate and tough adaptability of the silver maple.

Form & Size: It develops a uniform, upright, and dense oval-to-pyramidal crown. At maturity, it typically reaches 12–18 metres (40–55 feet) in height with a spread of 9–12 metres (30–40 feet).

Bark: Smooth, attractive silvery-grey bark when young, which darkens slightly as it matures.

• Foliage: The medium-green leaves are deeply cut with five pointed lobes and distinctive red stems (petioles).
• Autumn Color: As the name implies, it delivers a reliable, jaw-dropping display of brilliant orange-red to ruby-scarlet foliage that lasts for several weeks.
